In the late 1680s a member of the Societies recorded a list of sufferings in Glasgow. Among the items mentioned was a field preaching, probably by James Renwick, to the north of Glasgow in July, 1684:

‘July 84 after a preaching at Tambuie Hill [Tambowie Hill] a sufferer was taken and brought in to glasgow & threatened to be shot by [Major John] Balfour.’ (‘Hints of Sufferings’, EUL MSS. La.III.344, Vol. 2, item 125.)

Tambowie Hill, aka. Tombowie Hill, lies in East Dunbartonshire. On modern OS maps it is marked as Carneddans Wood.
